This church is built on a hill, on the ruins of an early Christian Basilica (5th century) with excellent mosaics; it even has an ionic capital column at the lintel of the chapel. In the church yard we find monolithic columns and bases, and it is even rumoured that there used to be a chancel dedicated to Artemis at this location.
Architecturally, it is an example of the three-aisled wooden roof, with a semicircular arch, a narthex and outbuildings.
